[2022-08-27] Undécima etapa: Ferreira-Melide; Eleventh stage: Ferreira-Melide

Hoy comenzamos el camino hacia Melide, ciudad de 9.000 habitantes donde se unen el Camino Primitivo y el Francés rumbo a Santiago.

Today we began the journey towards Melide, a city of 9,000 inhabitants where the Primitive Way and the French Way join up towards Santiago.

Esta etapa toma 20.6km con un ascenso de 370 metros y un descenso de 440 metros.

This stage takes 20.6km with an ascent of 370 meters and a descent of 440 meters.

Partimos de Ferreira por la mañana y pronto nos encontramos con el area de San Jorge de Aguas Claras. Pegado al camino se encuentra una roca con forma de menhir. Más atrás de la piedra se encuentra un puente de piedra que pasa por encima del canal de riego de Codeseda. Del otro lado del canal está la fuente coronada con la imagen de Santiago.

We left Ferreira in the morning and soon find ourselves in the area of ​​San Jorge de Aguas Claras. Attached to the path is a rock in the shape of a menhir. Further behind the stone there is a stone bridge that passes over the Codeseda irrigation canal. On the other side of the canal is the fountain crowned with the image of Santiago.

Mas adelante pasamos por la Iglesia de San Xuxovde Aguas Santas enmarcada por uno hermoso rosal. 

Further on we passed by the Church of San Xuxovde Aguas Santas framed by a beautiful rosebush.

También vimos un lugareño especial... que nos deseaba "Buen Camino" mientras pasábamos. 

We also saw a special local... wishing us "Buen Camino" as we passed by.

Siguiendo por las colinas vimos tierras cultivadas con espantapájaros muy modernos!

Continuing up the hills we saw farmlands with very modern scarecrows!

Subimos nuevamente unas montañas no muy altas y llegamos a nivel de las nubes que pronto se comenzaron a disipar.

We climbed some not very high mountains again and reached the level of the clouds that soon began to dissipate.

Luego bajamos para la zona de Armade por una largo descenso por grandes extensiones cultivadas y con mucho sol. Dado que estamos ya en zonas más bajas, y hemos dejado atrás el fresco de las alturas, ahora las tarde son abrasadoras. 

Then we went down to the Armade area by a long descent through large cultivated areas and with a lot of sun. Since we are now in lower areas, and we have left behind the cool of the heights, now the afternoons are scorching. 

Seguimos encontrandonos con graneros gallegos y antiguos marcadores del camino durante nuestro descenso como asi también con más bosques de eucaliptos y su perfume.

We continue to encounter Galician barns and old trail markers during our descent as well as more eucalyptus forests and their perfume.

Llegamos a Melide temprano a la tarde, antes de que el albergue abriera. Así que nos fuimos a disfrutar de una cerveza en la sombra reparadora en el centro de la ciudad, mientras las calles vecinales ardian del calor.

We arrived in Melide in the early afternoon, before the hostel opened. So we went to enjoy a refreshing beer in the shade in the center of the city, while the neighborhood streets burned with heat.

A la tardecita salimos a caminar por la ciudad. El calor habia menguago y los habitantes comenzaron a reunirse afuera para tomar aire más fresco.

In the evening we went for a walk around the city. The heat had waned and the inhabitants began to gather outdoor for fresher air.

Yendo a comer los famosos pulpos gallegos pasamos por la Iglesia de San Roque para luego tener nuestro tan ansiado descanso reparador.

Going to eat the famous Galician octopuses, we passed by the Church of San Roque and then had our long-awaited rest.
