[2022-08-18] Tercera Etapa: Salas-Tineo - Rumbo al Sol; Third Stage: Salas-Tineo - Heading for the Sun

Partimos en una fresca mañana de Salas esperando no encontrar más lluvia rumbo a Tineo, una pequeña ciudad de 9.500 habitantes enclavada en las montañas. 
We left Salas at the early morning in the hopes that there wouldn't be any more rain on our way to Tineo, a tiny mountain town with 9,500 residents.

El primer ascenso fue de 440 m en bosques de robles y castaños. 
The first climb was 440 meters in chesnuts and oaks forests. 

Hicimos un desvio para conocer la Cascada de Nonaya. 
The Nonaya River Cascade, one of the many Austurians falls were part of our view.

El segundo ascenso fue más suave hasta llegar a los 800m de altitud. 
Up until an elevation of 800 meters, the second ascent was smoother.

Llegamos al pico donde se encuentra la ciudad de La Espina, única oportunidad para reabastecernos hasta llegar a Tineo.
Our only chance to get some food up before reaching Tineo was when we arrived at the peak where the city of La Espina is located.

Seguimos nuestro recorrido en una zona plenamente rural, siguiendo, por un tramo, un arreo de vacas.
We continue our route in a completely rural area, following, for a section, a herd of cows.

En nuestro camino nos encontramos con algunos artesanos locales y pudimos hechar una mirada a sus talleres. 
On our way we met some local artisans and got a glimpse of their workshops

Doble suerte llegando a Tineo: salió el sol, un sol radiante y para nuestra sorpresa los tinetenses estaban preparándose para el cierre de la festividad de San Roque con un desfile de carrozas, mucha música y sonrisas, el cual disfrutamos antes de prepararnos para la siguiente etapa.

Tineo received us with a blessing as the sun emerged, shining brightly. To our surprise, the locals were getting ready to end the celebrations for San Roque, so we were able to enjoy the parade with lots of music and smiles, before getting ready for our next stage.

Entrenando mas duro. Training harder.

Ahora estamos en la fase de entrenamiento más duro. Estamos haciendo unos 25km por día para ver que podemos recuperarnos de caminatas largas todos los días. Esta serie la vamos a seguir por una semana y después vamos a continuar con tres salidas semanales de unos 20km hasta que viajemos a España, el 8 de agosto. Hasta la próxima! Now we are in the hardest training phase.  We are doing about 25km a day to see that we can recover from the long daily walks. We are going to follow this series for a week, and then we are going to continue with three weekly departures of about 20km until we travel to Spain, on August 8.  Until next time!

[2022-08-23] Octava etapa: Fonsagrada-O'Cadavo; Eighth stage: Fonsagrada-O'Cadavo

Comenzamos nuestro tramo totalmente gallego rumbo a O'Cádavo, una pequeña población en la municipalidad de Baleira, de alrededor de 1.200 habitantes. Partimos en el amanecer para entrar en un bosque con niebla. We begin our totally Galician section towards O'Cádavo, a small town in the municipality of Baleira, with around 1,200 inhabitants. We set out at dawn to enter a foggy forest. La etapa se extiende 24.31 km, con 850 metros de ascenso y 1.070 metros de bajada.
