[2022-08-29] Decimotercera etapa: Salceda-Santiago de Compostela; Thirteenth stage: Salceda-Santiago de Compostela.

Y llego el dia! Hoy hicimos la ultima etapa: Salceda - Santiago de Compostela!

And the day has come! We have done the last stage: Salceda - Santiago de Compostela!

Dejamos nuestro albergue por la mañana  temprano para comenzar nuestro recorrido de 28 km que prometía ser caluroso. Por suerte, la brisa que nos acompaño fue suficiente para tener un camino más que placentero.

We left our hostel early in the morning to start our 28 km journey that promised to be hot. Luckily, the breeze that accompanied us was enough to have a more than pleasant path.

Fuimos dejando los bosques de lado para entrar en zonas más rurales y urbanas.

We left the forests aside to enter more rural and urban areas.

Cuando llegamos a 10 km de Santiago, tuvimos la sensación de que ya estábamos casi ahí.

When we arrived 10 km from Santiago, we had the feeling that we were almost there.

Pasamos por varios lugares muy lindos  preparados para recibir a los peregrinos y permitirles tomarse un descanso y degustar algo rico.

We pass through several very beautiful places prepared to receive pilgrims and allow them to take a break and taste something delicious.

Uno de ellos, muy pintoresco, estaba adornado con botellas de cerveza. Miles de botellas decoraban el lugar!

One of them, very picturesque, was adorned with beer bottles. Thousands of bottles decorated the place!

Los peregrinos que veníamos del Camino Primitivo, unidos al caudal de los del Camino Francés, íbamos todos con el mismo entusiasmo de llegar en una fila interminable.

The pilgrims who came from the Primitive Way, joined to the flow of those from the French Way, we all went with the same enthusiasm of arriving in an endless line.

Antes de entrar en Santiago nos desviamos del camino para visitar el Monte do Gozo, una colina de 380 metros de altura, distante 5 km de Santiago. Es un punto muy particular y con mucha tradición: desde alli, los peregrinos podían ver por primera vez la Catedral de Santiago de Compostela. Alli se encuentra el monumento al Peregrino, establecido en honor a la peregrinación por Juan Pablo II, que muestra dos peregrinos mirando la ciudad y señalando la catedral.

Before entering Santiago, we deviate from the road to visit Monte do Gozo, a 380-meter-high hill, 5 km from Santiago. It is a very particular point with a lot of tradition: from there, pilgrims could see the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela for the first time. There is the monument to the Pilgrim, established in honor of the pilgrimage by John Paul II, it shows two pilgrims looking at the city and pointing to the cathedral.

Entramos la ciudad, que combina modernidad e historia, junto a muchos peregrinos. De a poco nos fuimos adentrando a la ciudad vieja. Desde allí se podía apreciar la torre de la Trinidad, o de Berenguela, al fondo de la calle. Ahí es cuando las emociones se hacen sentir más fuertes.

We entered the city, which combines modernity and history, together with many pilgrims. Little by little we entered the old city. From there you could see the tower of Trinidad, or Berenguela, at the end of the street. That's when emotions make themselves feel stronger.

Entrar a la Plaza del Obradoiro y ver los peregrinos festejando, descansansando o sacandose fotos fue muy simpático. Ver la fachada de la catedral fue muy emocionante. 

Entering the Plaza del Obradoiro and seeing the pilgrims celebrating, resting or taking photos was very nice. Seeing the facade of the cathedral was very exciting.

Y asi se comenzó a terminar nuestro Camino!

And so our Camino began to end!

Esta fue la nuestra última etapa, nos queda solo otro posteo para contar algunos cosas que quedaron en el camino.

This was our last stage, we only have another post to tell some things that were left on the road.
