Nos despedimos de Lugo caminando por la muralla, cuando el sol comenzaba a salir.
We said goodbye to Lugo walking along the wall, when the sun began to rise.

Alli nos sorprendió el mural de Julio Cesar, emperador romano, que a pesar de haber nacido y muerto en Roma, desde hace un tiempo vive en Lugo. Este mural tiene reconocimiento como el mejor mural del mes de agosto 2021, dado por una de las mayores comunidades de arte urbano del mundo. Es otra forma en la que Lugo presume su legado romano.
There we were surprised by the mural of Julius Caesar, the Roman emperor, who, despite having been born and died in Rome, for some time now lives in Lugo. This mural is recognized as the best mural of the month of August 2021, given by one of the largest urban art communities in the world. It is another way in which Lugo shows off his Roman legacy.

Ni bien dejamos la ciudad amurallada rumbo a la Rua de Santiago vimos una rayuela algo particular. Era curva para seguir la direccion de vereda. No importa cómo, curva o recta, la diversión es siempre la misma!
As soon as we left the walled city towards Rua de Santiago, we saw a somewhat unusual hopscotch. It was curved to follow the path direction. No matter how, curve or straight, the fun is always the same!
Cruzamos el Río Minho por un puente romano y por el que pasa también la Vía Romana XIX que data de la época de Augusto.
We crossed the Minho River by a Roman bridge and through which the Via Romana XIX also passes, dating from the time of Augustus.
No hay dudas que ser peregrinos signlifica ser apreciados. Un ejemplo de esto último fue el saludo a los peregrinos escrito en piedra en un efificio en las afueras de Lugo que decia: "Peregrino buen viaje. Lugo te saluda". Lindo!
There is no doubt that being a pilgrim means being appreciated. An example of the latter was the greeting to pilgrims written in stone in a building on the outskirts of Lugo that read: "Pilgrim have a good trip. Lugo greets you." Nice!
Después de casi 10 km de marcha por bosques, algunos de eucaliptus, junto a otros peregrinos llegamos a San Vicente do Burgo, una de las dos poblaciones para reabastecernos de agua, comer algo. Alli vimos una replica, un cilindro de granito dedicado a Caligula, que probablemente señalizaba la Vía Romana.
After almost 10 km of walking through forests, some of them eucalyptus, together with other pilgrims we arrived at San Vicente do Burgo, one of the two towns to replenish water and eat something. There we saw a replica, a granite cylinder dedicated to Caligula, which probably marked the Via Romana.
Pasando San Roman de Retorta comenzamos la bajada hacia Ferreira, que nos llevó a una zona de colinas cultivadas.
Passing San Roman de Retorta we began the descent towards Ferreira, which took us to an area of cultivated hills.
Luego vinos un hórreo gallego con sus adornos en el techo: una cruz de un lado y del otro una figura, geometrica. Dado que los hórreos son anteriores al cristianismo, se cree que la figura geometrica, cumple una función de protección, una reminiscencia del culto a la fecundidad de la tierra.
Then came a Galician granary with its decorations on the ceiling: a cross on one side and a geometric figure on the other. Since the hórreos predate Christianity, it is believed that the geometric figure fulfills a protective function, a reminiscence of the cult of the earth's fertility.
Finalmente llegamos a nuestro albergue y cantina en Ferreira para una disfrutar una cerveza bien fresca bajo una parra en el sol de la tarde.
Finally we arrived at our hostel and cantina in Ferreira to enjoy a nice cold beer under a vine in the afternoon sun.
